The Land of the Free?

America.

The land of the free, and the home of the brave.

Stolen from the Native Americans and built by the Africans

This nation was never truly free

We toted ourselves as the "land of opportunity" while taking opportunity from those that came

From slavery, to exclusion, to civil rights, opportunity is still not equal today

Mothers, brothers, sisters, and friends lost because of their color

A country where color is more important than all else

A country that'll drop bombs in the East but can't fund state schools

A country that made itself off of the backs of others

That still steps onto the backs of those same people

America may be the home of the brave

But is it truly the land of the free?

This poem is about:
My country
