Land of free

How can I express how I feel: When I am constantly having to deal with this unjust, unfair, unequal land of the free: Yet we are told to be you, be brave be all you can be: You put us down, treat us bad and you profile me: when caught you oppose racism diametrically: What did we do? You chose us we didn't choose you! Racism is still prevalent in times today: No matter how athletic and how proper you sound: To the racist you are as significant as a root from under the ground: Even though the root brings life to a beautiful flower: One of ours is being taken by the hour: Why cant we ride and enjoy the night? Without being subjected to your red, white and blue lights: The same colors that represent the land of the free: Red is our blood and blue is our pain the white signifies the color that made us hang: Your hatred for us has never changed: Youve just evolved from speaking it freely: To incorporating it in your job selection, sentencing and education: We are a work in progress some things will change: until we will fight, protest and educate our children about your ways: Teach them to respect and love who they are and desire to be: Teach them what it truly means to live in a land of the free.
