Land of Make-believe
The Land of Make-believe doesn't see what I see,
Behind social media I am just a regular human being.
I may throw in a filter just to enhance the picture,
But that image will never define what my life truly features.
Behind the camera I do not have a million dollar smile,
However, 9 out of 10 times I'm laughing with my teeth showing for miles.
Without proper lighting you can tell I don't have the perfect skin,
But as the saying goes it's not what's on the outside, it's what comes from within.
A full body selfie will reveal my nonexistent hourglass figure,
In reality I have a healthy body that I put endless hours in the gym to configure.
I can honestly say that my posts on social media don't quite justify who I really am,
An outgoing, athletic and intelligent, young mam.
By what is that nowadays people are fishing for an abundant amount of likes?
Why try to be accepted in the Land of Make-believe, when you're already accepted in real life?
It's not about how many followers you have on instagram or Twitter,
But what society has conformed to in this day of age makes me feel extremely bitter.
My inner rebel refuses to only be accepted by what I post through a screen,
Where the geniune characterisitcs of a person are masked and unseen.
Only the nonconformist will know what I mean,
That social media shouldn't make one a higher power because we are all just regular human beings.
