THE LANDSCAPE

The landscape was beautiful

I could see blots of color; the flowers were in bloom

Water gushed from the rocks as the river consumed

A mountain with some white snow still left on it’s peak

A bountiful brook and a cerulean creek

Shapes of big clouds that covered the sky

The trees were so big and the leaves stretched so high

I could see shapes and colors but could not hear any sound

The window I was looking through was foggy and blurred

And the camera was unfocused

I kept snapping photographs but none of them were good enough

The view from my window was so pretty

Why wasn’t the perspective reflected on my screen?

No one from home would be able to see

I was looking at the world through a veil

I put down the camera and went outside

The landscape was beautiful

My feet were bare, the day was setting, it was getting cold

The sunset shone red yellow and gold

I walked through the huge oasis of green

The grass was soft and the air smelled crisp and clean

I could hear the babbling brook

I could see the crystal clear creek

My feet finally stopped and the scene felt more alive

My focus shifted from the camera and became fixated on the sky

I was in awe of the moment that god had placed before me

Before it was just a picture but now everything was reality

I watched the twinkling stars and the glistening night

Photos and vanity are meaningless, but humility is always right.
