Language is...

I've got a secret talent, and I can't live without it

It's not juggling, not dancing, not breaking wooden boards

because none of that really matters, not when you picture it

A world without words influencing even the most stubborn among us,

A world without ideas that make our lives worth living

No other talent is as vital as speech,

with our hands or with our mouths

I can tell what others think purely through their hands and their words,

but what if those hands no longer moved?

Those mouths no longer spoke?

The world as we know it, it would be gone forever,

all in an instant

I couldn't ask questions, you couldn't respond

I can't live without language, because curiosity would die

They say that communication is key,

but what if that key was crushed and tossed away?

When I raise my hand, it would never go down

I'd never be awknoledged, because no one would know how

What if different languages, dialects, and accents were obsolete?

cultures wouldn't be the same, at least not for me

I need words, and I suspect that others do as well

Because no one can learn, and no one can dream

if no one can explain what those words mean
