Language

I sit and stare at the sheet

that has symbols I call letters. Most have no meaning

alone.

Only together

can I make words that have meaning.

But what symbols can be used in

other languages?

Chinese and Japanese

use symbols as words. Each has a meaning without the help

of others.

I look closer and see that each symbol is made up of

families

of smaller marks to make the word have

meaning.

I sit and stare at the sheet

of words that tells a story.
