The Language of Love

When I was eight years old I was dipped under clean water. And told that if I pray the right way that God will answer every prayer In one way or another And whether I feel His presence or not He will not value me less than the other sheep in His flock. But see, as I grow older I realize that I’m not a lamb but much bolder And I find it hard to follow orders from a book we’re not even sure of. You can say you know the word of God But what if what you claim as truth has been lost in translation Because the blind and crippled were once viewed as dirty Just as other communities are viewed today. And we realized we were wrong about those who couldn't see Or walk And maybe about the current “unclean” we are just as wrong. If you’ve been told you’re an atrocity Or branded as a heathen I’m here to tell you I don’t mind who you love Or what you believe in And if you’ve been burned by a church Remember that a church is only human Just because someone says they follow Jesus, It doesn't mean they’re a Christian And just because someone is a Christian It doesn't mean they hate All other religions Because there is no particular mold That every person of faith will fit in. I choose to speak the language of love Because I believe that if you've got two lungs and a beating heart You Are Beyond Enough. I choose to speak the language of love.

Thank you for this. I love this, and it almost made me cry. In a good way. :)
