At Last

Free at last from the haunting ghost,

I never imagined the relief and at the same time pain,

I only wanted to rid myself of the constant reminder,

Not destroy the soul of an angel gone wrong.

At the end of the day,

No matter how long or dark,

There is always a light waiting for you,

If only you'd venture out to find it.

I am happy, content, unharmed,

In all mental and physical aspects,

I never believed that I could survive,

Much less be better than ever before.

Through my many battles of pain,

I found a reason I had never thought of before,

One that made me realize what life was meant to be,

One that gave me reason that no one can ever take from me.
