Last Breath

Here we go, back to the start.
Hearing her voice echo through my heart.
Fall for something, and stand for nothing.
Though, we never knew that we were always standing.

One torn family under shattered feelings,
drifting away like the wounds aren't healing.
They were lost inside a raging fire,
fueled with dreams and bottomed-out desire.

Everyone talks, but no one listens.
Divided between a petty difference.
She took my hand and said hold me near,
I can't see the world through all my tears.

Please let go, I can't hold on.
My calloused fingers have held on too long.
We swallow our pride and admit defeat,
we can never fight if we're on our knees.

With one last breath we take a stand,
replace these words within the sand.
Out of sight, she speaks her open mind.
With one more cry in her heart,
she asks me why we fell apart.
It's not too late to make this right.

She wanted me to stand again,
I couldn't change who I am.
She wanted me to stand again,
I'll never change who I am.
She wanted me, she wanted me..
