Last Day of School

Last day of school I don’t know how to feel Is this seriously happening? Is any of this real? It feels like the beginning But it’s all over now No time for regretting No tears to allow Our time here was short We made the most of it too High school was fun But there’s no time to lose Time to pack our bags And make a new heading There’s more to be seen This is far from the ending A new journey begins But my compass is spinning I feel a little lost It’s myself I’ll be finding College, a new realm So many opportunities A place to explore So many possibilities So lets make a new course And promise not to forget All the friends we have made All the goals we have met Let us make a new stride And begin a new path Jump fearlessly into the unknown And never fear the aftermath Let us keep our minds open And with our hearts, keep leading Just remember, my fellow seniors This is only just the beginning.

This poem encompasses my mixed feelings about leaving high school for college. As we embark on this new adventure, we feel excited and anxious, like we know everything and nothing at all at the same time. We cut some old ties and make some new ones, and with any luck, we get to know ourselves better along the way though all the crazy, wonderful, and even scary college experiences we are about to encounter as we begin a new chapter in our lives.
