Last day of Summer

The last day of summer while we slept on the beach you confessed you were a ghost At first I thought you’d lost your mind this wasn’t a horror story the sand was still golden no stains of red no crime scene tape I didn’t know what to say you were still breathing did that mean I had a 6th sense? If you had told me I was a medium maybe I wouldn’t have been so confused was this some new type of haunting technique? Are you friends with Casper now? you’re not transparent. you meant that the old you was gone all that was left was your spirit still in the same body just a shell for your soul It made sense that you wanted to leave the past behind your mind was defining you your time hadn’t expired the only crossing over was between levels of consciousness it wasn’t my dream you were just talking in your sleep.
