Last Days Love
Last Days Love
I wrestle with the visions
and comprehend some of what i see
Bright as light their image is
and they reverberate in me.
The cost, so near at hand, it seems
prompts the Master's beckoning
and casts aside the natural law
to force my tardy awakening.
This cool night I've seen the plight
and watched the Master's prophets flight.
With frozen fear of one who sleeps
and hot tears of one who weeps.
The night whose stillness calm, so calm
and pleases some with salvic balm,
contorts the soul of foolish ones
not so practiced for the day He comes.
Yesterday, with bated breath,
the loving, longing loneliness
tumbles forward through all time
and satisfies the prophet's rhyme.
He's come upon the vespers eve
and cannot sew the liar's weave
but must, in trust and faith in me,
offer up eternity.
This last chance to formal dress
my soul in lover's happiness
and weep the lovely lyric sounding
upon the open breast resounding.
"Come and see my glorious being!"
Resting on the living theme:
One who loves as no one can
comes to love poor me again.
