Last Goodbye

Broken hearts, teary eyes,
All this hit me by surprise,
My tear filled eyes begin to pour
I've never felt this way before
I can feel myself collapse and cry
I never got my last goodbye
I look for someone to take my hand
To tell me that they understand
But I’m all alone to face my pain
With no comfort for me to gain
I felt so helpless weak and small
Because there was nothing I could do at all
But I had to learn to let you go
Even if it hurt me so
I know you’re in a better place
Smiling down on me from space
So I pick myself up and walk out of this night
Out of the darkness and into the light
Writing this to you with relief I can sigh
Because I finally got my last goodbye.
