The Last Letter

     Dear Dad,

When silence is deafening,

What do you do?

I hold back the tears

And embrace it, it's true

When happiness lingers,

How do you feel?

For some reason, lonely

Encaged by my fears

When a friend blames you,

What do you say?

Of course, it's my fault,

I'm for to the challenges of your day

When someone leaves you,

What do you think?

There goes another one

Away from my brink.

Am I happy?

Yes

I'm called put together and free

Ha, do you really know me?

I enjoy chokers, theories, dancing through the night

Hugging laughing, enjoying the days light

A strong broken child "adulting" for life

That truth, that happens to cut like a knife

Alice's wonder alone could seem small and bland

Compared to anything in my hand

Ha, Do you really know me?

Because I would guess not.

And let's keep it that way,

To spare me one more heartbreak

      Sincerely,

         The Daughter You Left
