Last Moments

Dying embers

Soft gray, fading on the edges, quiet

Hiding, curling into the light in the center

Burning yellows, curdling to orange

and smouldering red

A spark, hope in the darkness

Light for those who seek

An easy existence, floating

Yet an anchor in this empty space all the same
