Last Night

I wrote a poem last night
And it made me think.
The only time we think
Is last night.

The world is so fast
During the day
And our brain so slowed
To process it
That our thoughts get
Pushed back and back.

So the only time we can really
Think
Is when everything stops.

When the light is gone
And our daylight mind-numbing
Operations put away,
Only then do we allow our brains to think.

So ask me again
why you can't sleep.

Ask me again, why when everything
Stops
Your body just can't?

The truth is, your body loves
this time more than anything.

When it is finally allowed
To be
To think
To do
What it wants.

And in this hour of random
Thoughts and crazy
Wants, I believe
We are the most we
Have ever been before

In a world that is too loud.
