Last Night-Good Night

Dear Grandma Meyer,

I know that’s not the right way to spell it-your name that is, but I tried.

The moment the sun went down

You laid down, buried in the silence of the night

My Tia’s voice faded as you shut your eyes

Taking in that last fresh air, you bid goodbye to all and

A good night.

Sunday morning came around

We thought you woke with energy for another day

Ends up-at 8:00, you didn’t

Bracing the pain, and shedding tears

By voicing all the feelings in my heart

I knew where I would wind up from the start

We bid you goodbye. . . I bid you goodbye

We knew this would eventually happen

The sickness ate at you faster than expected

Now your gone, now we can’t see you, I can’t see you

If only I had yet another chance to, if only I had. . .a chance

To wish you health-even if it wasn’t going to happen-love

By me and my siblings-you cared for me, you loved me

You remembered me when I wasn’t there at your last dying days

And now all I can do is Bid those last goodbyes from afar

Goodbye Grandma, the one who never forgot about me

Love Your Great Granddaughter,

Celeste :)
