LAST ONE OF THE YEAR

last one of the year for me,

I wonder what it will be?

and what I will write about

and there is no doubt;

that in reflection

can't remember much,

since the last one came around

365 days ago.

gone too fast!

real flat out

did I turn another year?

in the race of getting to century mark,

I'd remember (I think),

if I blew a candle out,

and did I enjoy?

many anniversaries of note

along the way;

or was life just all plain,

and the same

for each day marked,

on calendar up on wall.

or did I forget?

and done on merit so,

to buy presents and gifts,

hoping to have received the same

or was daily life throughout the year,

one of many disappointments be,

of not doing more.

and I wonder with tonight,

 when it turns

into being another day,

only the start of a different year,

or will it be different to passing one,

or will it be full of hope,

or enjoyment supreme,

or one of regretful times,

but, remember most all

today, will be yesterday, tomorrow,

and 2018 will be 2019;

in the dawning of another day,

in the dawning of another year.....
