The last performance
My hands caress the pearl white keys
A cold touch greets me in a desperate call, the dust on them remains
My fingers linger over them, like a baby clinging onto attention
Oblivious to the fragile state, the previous owner left them in
Leaning forward, blowing the age, the heartache, and frailty away into the wind of yesterday
The bench beneath me creaks with the slightest movement, I adjust for the grandeur before me
My stomach flips, aware of what stands with us
The black and white contrast is all too alluring, my unsteady hands reach over to pat her
My hand, unable to walk away
The eyes below in a blank state, waiting patiently for the next move
The sound transcends into a spiritual being looming above us all
All eyes close to follow deeply
In an instant the room hears nothing more than her angelic voice
Her words leave my book, the pages follow her into the heavenly grace
I watch in awe as she dances her last dance, sings her last song, breathes her last breath
I stay there to hold her, allowing her to leave no regrets behind
Only leaving a the tears in my eyes, she has accomplished her purpose in life
I bid her farewell, my heart in pieces as my dearest friend vacates the hall
She bequeathed me her memories of her past endeavors
My will drags on the floor, as I stand up to receive our prize, the praise fills the hall
Tears running down their cheeks, looking up in awe, I bow and turn
My friend has left no regrets behind
My friend has left the memories behind
My friend has left me behind
