The Last Voyage

The moon was set upon its perch, The tide ebbed against the shore, The ship was tossed amongst the waves like a bird lost in a storm. We sailed by the light of the moon, in search of the lit tower, fighting the current and darkness getting further by the hour. The storm is harsh today they said, the captain must be insane, To take his crew out on the water in such a hurricane. The men aboard were cringed with fright as they were tossed from bow to stern, the captains eye was set ahead without the least bit of concern. The sails were tattered from the winds the hull crushed from the waves, the deck hands cried out to their maker for they might meet their grave. The lightning struck the mast, a fire set ablaze, out here all alone, lost at sea for days. Sinking into the deep the Captains heart was callous, watching the demise of his own crew with a laughter mocked with malice. The Captains hands still held firm to the wheel as the mighty ship rest atop the ocean floor, the day has come for he and his crew for the ship will sail no more.
