Late Winter's Eternal Night

There you were and there you went like Winter's afternoon sun,

The days are long and the mornings cold when I hear the bird's dull song,

Like symphonies without the string that play the chord of the angels hymn,

They sit in silence and await for you until the Spring just as I.

Although the sun is out it seems it's always dark,

And just as the angels are like me, we are very much apart,

For I, a mortal, feel the frigidity of your absence,

But they, as many lifetimes granted; frigidity does not come from inevitable presence.

If I ever see you again before I do depart,

Of crossing paths on a desolate road with the dull song of the lark,

I will have seen the Winter's end and know the angels sent me Spring,

And in the Spring they will play to you the missing chord just as I.
