Laurel Tree Theif

He cut his hair

and grew wings

forever searching for her-

the thief.

She ran and with her

took his heart.

He didn’t mind so much-

his heart in her clever hands,

but he was rather upset

she’d didn’t ask for it

he would have happily

offered it if she had

His heart wasn’t much

good anyways. It was broken

when he got it.

Never satisfied,

always crying,

a lonely wretched thing.

Yet in her embrace it

was warmed by streams of sunlight.

She buried it deep within the soil and

nurtured it into a

Laurel Tree.

The very tree

that broke his fall

when his weary wings

would fly no more.
