The Leap

The Leap

I used to think that dreaming was a waste.

What could come true in this world of haste?

Broken hopes seem to surround.

No whimsical possibilities amoung the profound.

But without a dream, what can one inspire to be?

Perhaps there is something important to me.

Like helping others and encouraging their faith.

Perhaps there is something worth the wait.

First I'd need to learn how to act,

Fill my brain with knowledge and facts.

Urban development seems like such a big word.

Little by little, I want to change the world.

What makes these cities work?

What makes these cities hurt?

Full of people needing to survive.

I want to change somebody's life.

I want to serve, and I want to teach

English words and parts of speech.

A loving teacher who knows and cares,

The lady with a pencil tucked behind her hair.

Perhaps we all dream somehow.

I've decided; I'm ready now.

To jump in and take the leap

I close my eyes -  deep breath - believe.
