A Leap

A rabbits leap of faith

It’s coat softening the blow

Paws stained of ashen gray

Treading through burnt remains

A forest stood once proud

Reduced to cinders and soot

Shrubs smolder as dusk descends

Crackling cries are heard

The rabbit limps along

Seeking a new providence
