Leap of Faith

What is a leap of faith?

What is faith

Or trust

Or even just a little hope

That in somone's eyes I am more then just skin.

More then just a pair of eyes

Or a mouth that has nothing of substance.

Strapped in a harness,

Yellow fighting grey for power.

What will win,

The people at the rope asking for me to believe in something that is not me

Or the fear, the wall built up for the span that is my life.

Those 18 years of it being only me.

Attached to this rope,

I look up and am faced with the challenge of never doing or regret.

Air finds its way deep into my lungs,

And I try not to choke on a sob.

Cold a ladder feels beneath a palm.

Metal stubs to keep on climbing when the last step of ladder is left behind.

The bark rough against my knees.

Body pressed tight against this piece of life,

I can almost feel its heart beat calm against my rapid fire.

It said, " Just keep going up."

So I just kept on climbing,

The tears never ceasing.

Finally, the metal stubs gave way to nothing but tree, and it was all up to me.

Looking down,

It's those same people asking for me to trust them.

But I still don't know what trust is.

When suddenly the sun shines through the leaves,

The wind dances across my face and into my ears,

that lets me in on a little secret.

I close my eyes and jump.

And trust catches me.
