The Leap Not Taken

If I could’ve, I would've and I should’ve

When I had my only chance my heart was racing,

My hands were shaking, and my stomach was uneasy

It had been the only chance I had to change my life

But my brain had thought otherwise

My brain had felt that I couldn’t do it

It had felt that I wouldn’t make it to the top

  But I was stating otherwise

I rose up onto the stage and saw the crowd

As silent as an animal sneaking up on its prey

You could hear yourself breathe it was so quiet

I stood proud,

But it felt as if I was going to be sick

I ran off the stage as soon as the crowd started whispering

I couldn’t, I wouldn’t and I shouldn’t

The opportunity to go to the school of my dreams had been crushed

Goodbye Dance Academy
