learned from example to do the opposite

When I was young I was taught to hold my tongue

Your opinion, your feelings meant little to none

My dad was always angry, mom never understood

Nothing i did was ever good but that was just my childhood

My sister moved out my brother did too

Now all the house chores are up to you

Time went on my grades got bad

Always in trouble for being sad

Late at night thoughts filled my head

Why was i never tucked into bed

Was i enough, am I ok?

I'm sorry I didn't turn out your way

My hair too is short, my chest is too flat

I look like a boy but don't see a problem with that

I don't know where to begin

“Quit your crying girl and tuck yourself in”

Had to switch schools to the ALC

From what I heard it wasn't a good idea to me

At first i was scared and all alone

Just sat quiet and looked at my phone

Then I made friends found my new home

I wasn't incomplete and I wasn't alone

I learned how to accept the way people are

Even if they don't care from afar

I've learned to love who I am and who I can be

They may not support but It doesn't bother me

I'm still here at home it isn't too great

But that doesn't determine my fate

I look to the future with hope instead of dread

And dwell not on my past struggles but on road a head
