learning to enjoy life again

I spent too much time trying to fix what I couldn't

Now I realize

The world is full of good things that happen

Everyday.

Somewhere out there

A mother is holding her baby for the first time

A student just graduated despite the forces working against them

A child is drawing a picture

That will be pinned to the wall

Of their father's cubicle.

It took me too long to realize

That the world isn't all bad

That the bad is exaggerated every day

And maybe

Just maybe

I can be happy too.
