Learning to Fly

A bird on a perch

One step

One push

Praying to the lord

Knowing he's about to get hurt

Plunging deeper

Reality disappears

Slipping

Sliding

Moving slowly out of reach

Earth moves

On all sides

Like Impressionist paintings

Passing by

One spot

Still

Clear as can be

A sharpening picture

Stared at

Making it harder to breathe

Spread them

Let them

Embrace it if you can

This is how to grow up

This is the world we live in

They did it out of love

Not out of hate

They did it with pain

And tears falling down their face

One bird, One step

One ledge, One perch

One prayer

Please don't

I'm not ready to learn
