Learning Patience

Waiting.

The room is painfully loud

Piercing sounds seem to get louder and louder

It's screaming, it's hot

Waiting.

The sound seeps through the walls.

Covering my ears for a small relief, it won't help

It's shouting, it's crowded

Waiting.

It trickles down slowly, fading away

Shriveling to a ball, watching it go.

It's talking, it's slow

Waiting.

Beep, Beep, Beep. The noise dies to a beep

Still there, still here. It not leaving, but offers relief

Annoying, but soft

Waiting.

It's gone. In enters a room of silence

I get up and shut the door

The cool hallway welcomes me to my next room of shrieking noises

Waiting.
