Leave Me

In solitary silence

I sink into malaise

I do not wish for guidance

Within this brazen blaze

I do not wish for peace

Nor comfort’s cooling touch

I whisper to God, “please.”

As I escape his clutch

God leave me to find my own way out

I’m tired of drowning in my doubt

You’ve left me to face these things alone

Just leave me to find my own way home

My haste is quiet, hesitant

Do I dare to leave?

This body is indelicate,

or so he’s taught me to believe

These chains will not break easily;

what will there be to find?

Can I leave them that indecency

in this place I’ll leave behind?

God leave me to find my own way out

I’m tired of drowning in my doubt

You’ve left me to face these things alone

Just Leave me to find my own way home
