Leaves

Winter ended

Spring began

Bare branches determined

To be full again

Me, hoping for the same

Trying not to feel the shame

Of wanting someone to help

Me again find myself

But leaves will always leave

For I am a tree

But I never leave

For I am a tree

Once I thought myself lonely

Then I remembered I am a tree

I couldn’t be lonely

For all I can see

Are the bird’s and the bees

Coming to my shelter

Then I never falter

For I am a tree

Deeply rooted

For I am me

And am as stubbornly strong

As a tree

No matter if my leaves leave

I may feel vulnerable when my leaves leave

Leaving me cold

And unprotected by animals so bold

But I just have to remember

I am a tree
