Leaves Change

Leaves change

and then they fall

Each with their own story

You’ll never know them all

Leaf and branch

Branch and tree

Each one

Another friendship with me

One leaf betrayed

And threatened before he fell

Changed my entire perspective

The lies and venom he would tell

Another slowly rotted

A dying leaf on the tree

As their only interest

Was dating me

So many leaves fell

And then others would follow

At the end of the year

My tree was hollow
