Left Me

The first time you left me

I thought it was just for show

"Don't tell the authorities

I promise they'll never know"

Second time you left me

I wondered what I did wrong

Beat myself up

Thought I'd been good all along

You left me

You left me

Your daughter

Won't save her

You left me

You left me

Your daughter

What did I ever do?

First time you left

Thought it was a game

Then we played again

But the rules weren't the same

You tried to leave so many times

Left me blind

Gave me no sign

I had no father of any kind

You did nothing

So I went elsewhere to learn something

So many times you caused my tears

Left me sad

You wanted to be a teenager again

But you're not

Grow up dad

Take responsibility

I know it's hard

But why can't you appreciate the simple things

You tore your life apart

You ran away

Thinking things wouldn't be the same

That your life would change

Your problems would sway

But they haven't

And now I'm stronger

Maybe trust issues

But I have impenetrable armor

So now I’ll say sorry

That you thought you were abandoned

But that sorry

Won’t do any good

And I’m saddened

You were convinced everyone turned their backs and flew

But honestly the one who left is you

You won’t ever acknowledge that

And I’ve tried to tell you but it just fell flat

I know you won't ever see this

But I hope you realise

You closed your eyes

On the people you cared for all your life

We cared for you too

But you don’t think it’s true

I have much more to say

But I know you won’t stay

I love who you used to be

But you thought we kicked him

Hope you come to understand that in this story

We all suffered and are all victims
