A Legacy

I sat at a table

I sat on a chair

I saw them walk

I saw them talk

They talked about Malcolm X

They talked about Muhammad Ali

They talked about their legacy they left in this country

It wasn't until I listened

I heard about what they did

He fought for his rights

And he fought with all his might

That wasn't all they shared in common

They were told to be black

As that was the color of their skin they were muslim and kept their faith in track

As one was assasinated

As one had died of parkinson's disease

As many wondered what was left for us to breathe

You could hear peoples whispers go around

There was no voice to calm them down

Soon the little whisper became silent

You'd see a little kid inspired, with a voice ready for more

And that's what they left behind.

A voice

A legacy

For us to live on

Not only do you I have to listen but we have to carry on this legacy.

By all means necessary
