Legacy

They met way back in High School and soon became great friends. Next, came dating and graduating; this is far from where it ends! The year was 1952. Her hair was dark; her eyes were blue. Pretty as a picture there, tall and slender when, he asked for her hand forever way back then. He was an honest boy, whose sense of humor was dry. When he told his Dad he was marrying her, this was his reply: “Well son, you have just as much right to starve a woman as I had.” August 8th came and they were wed; scared and excited, wondering what God had planned ahead. There were little funds for a honeymoon- somewhere in Kentucky would have to do. They lived with his father those first few years; Soon an April Fool’s baby was due to appear! He lit up the room, that precious little one, and in 1957, they doubled their fun! Now two young boys would play and run—Life was GREAT it was almost Perfect-Until 1961! Ages 7 & 4, one more makes three- a loving little sister to complete the family. They were taught to share, stand tall, be polite! And of course, The Golden Rule: Mom’s Always Right! As man and wife, they worked hard to provide; they took every up and down side by side. Happy times were many, disagreements were few. Every sunset fell with “I love you.” As the children grew older, and took on new roles in life, these two stood behind each of them, together, as man and wife. Summers turned to winters and years began anew- each year bringing Grandbabies! Sometimes one – Sometimes two! And soon there were six more to love- each of us cherished, God’s gifts from above. What great role models! These two love birds prove a lot has been accomplished since 1952. Though now wrinkles show and heads faded grey, their love has only strengthened since that day. Like a diamond gets its shine and strength from the rough, we all know there’s been times being a Davis has been tough. Encouraged, accepted, led by a love that binds- we’ve all got special memories on our minds. Blessed by God and the powers that be, we are all PROUD additions to this Great Legacy.
