Legacy of the Founding Fathers

A long time ago, way back in history,

On a path to greatness, people embarked on a journey

That would determine the destinies of many people to come.

The “Fathers” refused to accept that things could not be better,

And together, they created a place that many would call paradise.

They created a government for the people by the people:

Where laws were meant to change as society changes.

The will of the majority is the will of the nation.

That was the intent of the Founding Fathers.

Where did we as a nation go so terribly wrong?

Corrupt politicians ignore the pleas from the majority.

Bullets pierce the flesh of the little ones,

And the youthful are dying younger than they should.

Instead of spreading love, we're spreading hate.

Fairness and equality are gone because we allowed it.

Our nation has lost sight of what made America great.

It was a place built on second chances and improvement.

Life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness are guaranteed.

Why do some want to take them away from other people?

The Fathers wouldn't approve of this blatant animosity.

Some people called it paradise, the place to be.

No place is ever paradise because humans justify

their bloody deeds cause by greed in the name of faith.

The Fathers guaranteed freedom to and from religion.

Why are we still fighting wars and denying human rights

In the name of a god that may not even exist?Legacy of the Fathers
