Lemonade Love
Love hits you, but not when you want it to
Love knocks the wind out of you when the palm trees are swaying in the breeze and it feels like nothing and everything could go wrong
It swoops down when you take a sip of lemonade
It knocks the drink out of your hand and coats your body with that sweet, sweet nectar
The nectar you try to shower away but the stain and the feeling of it may never leave
Love is lemonade
The best and the worst kind
Love is a blissful contradiction
It can even make a baseball pitcher blind
But there's something you should know
Lovers shouldn't hit you when you don't want them to
Lovers shouldn't let you fall when you were standing at your highest
They shouldn't swoop down and demand a sip of your lemonade when you don't want them to
They shouldn't cause your body to be drenched in sweat, worrying about what they would do next
The sweat that you try to wipe away but know that nothing will change
Lovers should be like lemonade
Sweet yet sour and make you feel better
Lovers shouldn't contradict
I love you is not a good excuse for abuse
So please don't take my lemonade for granted and instead of just chugging it down and demanding for more,
Use a straw.
Understand me better.
Know your limits because I know mine.
Lemonade is best when you give the lemons time to ripe.
