"Leonard Mead"
People of the year 2053,
Step out of your home and listen to me.
Restrain your eyes that are glued to a screen,
Enjoy life outside where it’s calm and serene.
I know what I say about nature is unreal,
Nature today is cold and mechanical, not our ideal.
People like me yearn to feel to feel the earth beneath our feet,
But all I feel is the rough texture of concrete.
All I want is to walk or even run a far,
But when I do, I’ll always be stopped by the city’s automated police car.
I fear that one day we will all stand in awe,
Machines will be the cause of our sudden downfall.
I predict in the year 2054,
That our world will be torn by war.
Who will be the villain of the heinous scene,
Why none other than man with machines.
Machines will be the cause of our end,
So don’t think for one second that this all pretend.
I assure that I am not crazy,
So why am I being sent to the Psychiatric Center for Research on Aggressive Tendencies?
I will tell you why, with an outraged talk,
It is because I just wanted to take a simple walk.
I was arrested just for walking,
What is next, getting arrested for talking?
Walking is an urge that shouldn’t be controlled,
It is enough that the government makes our lives dull.
Is this what our world is coming to,
Where you only look up to machine because everything else scares you?
I close my eyes to escape reality,
But I am still lonely even in my world of fantasy.
My imaginary world is just like this one,
I am all alone surrounded by no one.
