From Lesbos with Love

"Sweet Mother

I cannot weave

Slender Aphrodite

has overcome me

with longing for a girl."

Sweet Sappho

I cannot despair

This Girl

has held my hand

through the darkest of tunnels.

Sweet Eros

I cannot doubt

Each Morning

we kiss as if

our hearts were singing as one.

Sweet Artemis

I cannot control

My Girl

for she is hers,

her own person, owned by no one.

Sweet Hera

I cannot lie

We Argue

but always we listen

and forgive, forgive, forgive.

Sweet Lover.

I cannot stay the same

Like Water

i flow, i bend, i fall

and you, like air, flow

and swirl, and rise but

Sweet Lover

we cannot be broken

Each Fire makes us stronger.

Each Earthquake brings us closer.

mother, sappho, eros, artemis, hera

i cannot weave

slender aphrodite

has overcome me

with longing for a Girl.
