Less

Yes I am female 16 years on this planet I’m already tired I’m so very tired I’m tired of empowerment being confused with sexy clothing and lipstick I’m tired of the fear of being raped Or that the right people will come into power and I won’t even have control over my own body I’m tired of the knowledge that I’ll be paid less, respected less, I’m just tired of being less This country has been here for over 300 years So why is it that something as trivial as sex organs can determine my status? Why does the boy behind me say he wants his women stupid and beautiful? Why, why, why? But my questions go unanswered I’m tired of foisted morality I’m tired of being called a dog, a prostitute, I hate that there are derogatory words explicitly used on females Of all races Of all ages I’m tired of hearing “You throw like a girl” I’m tired of seeing movies with less female characters than an all boy’s school So I clench my teeth Just like my fists screaming ‘revolution’ Perhaps I’m bitter, angry, and extreme But don’t you dare call me “emotional” Don’t you dare blame my “womanly issues” I have emotions because I am not an object I am a human being Yes I am female But I’m so tired I don’t know if I want to be
