Lesson To Learn

The leather hit me cold and bare,

It felt like I had run out of air.

I kept thinking, "This isn't fair,

Why doesn't she care?"

This wasn't because I didn't share.

He laughed and said, "Go to sleep!"

But how could I when all I could do was weep?

My amazing mother I wish I could keep,

But she was gone as fast as a beep.

Now she was here, smiling, and then "Off to sleep!"

I lay there thinking,

About how I should stop weeping.

And then slowly, I started dreaming.
