A Lesson Nurtured
The sun darkens my skin differently wherever I go
I don’t always like how it turns out, but I’m glad You planned it that way
I like that my hair gets lighter in complete contrast; and that for a little while, I don’t dislike how much of it there is on my arms.
The rain isn’t ugly everywhere I go
I sometimes walk in it on purpose, trying to understand why You made it so melancholy
I hate that the plants are bursting with color and fulfillment in complete contrast; and that for a moment, they feel more alive than me.
The music doesn’t reach me everywhere I am
I’m glad it can tap me on the shoulder sometimes, but it’s not always planned that way
I tolerate the notes and how they dance on the brim of the spiritual with monotonous consistency; and that for a refrain or two, I can live hypothetically.
The love is with me wherever I am
I hate how I don’t always see it, but I’m glad you have a plan for it
I don’t like how it overshadows what I want to feel in complete contrast; and that for an eternity, I’ll receive everything
from whom I gave nothing.
