A Lesson in Reality

I was anxious to find love that when I finally did I didn’t really pay attention to who it was with My standards were low, but my expectations were high Lost in the experience I felt I could fly I flew over clues and hints it felt like I was blind But I kept going onward to find this love I couldn’t find How I wished he was the guy; how I hoped he was the one I could see us married riding off in the sun Oh how I thought I loved him I thought I loved him so much Every time he looked at me, my face would start to blush He told me lies, but those lies I couldn’t see I was blind; I tell you blindness was over me So when he broke my heart that’s when reality set in I saw all the things I didn’t see before but by then It was too late my heart was broken into two He had me singing sad songs, he had me feeling blue I couldn’t give up and I had to move on It felt life was sitting on my shoulders and it weighed a ton Then I thought about it and saw how I was free Free from the drama, stress, and insecurity I could smile I had my life back again No more wondering where he was at, no more wondering where he’d been Now that I think about it, he taught me a lesson Don’t settle for just any man; wait on your blessing.
