Lessons of Love and trust

I’m not sure I trust you
You seemed okay to me
When we were talking
I felt like I could be free

But then you stabbed me in the back
And I realized I’m not surprised
Why didn’t it shock me?
My emotions compromised.

They think you are pretty and funny
And so did I
But many times
I have felt that you are just a lie.

Friendships shouldn’t be this hard
They’re what shape my early life
It’s true that you caught me off guard
I never saw you holding the knife

On my back
Forever rests a scar
From the door that I left
Ajar.

We are wrecked
Incorrect
Imperfect

I just can’t watch you anymore
Be a person I don’t respect.
So I’ll just watch from afar
Knowing
I should have double-checked
The door that I left ajar.

I am weaker than I thought
I still miss the times I hoped we would have but
Then you do it again
And I feel fine about that door being shut.

So, here I go, good-bye
Forever is composed of NOWs she said
And that is true
I no longer want to dread

The heaviness and weight
The sadness I feel when I realize that I don’t trust you
The reality of your hate
You are not the person I thought I knew.

No more love from me,

Because I love me.
