Lessons From My Mentor

You taught me how to brush my teeth

and tie my laces.

You helped me stand up for myself

and those who couldn't

You told me where I came from

and who I am

You showed me strength

and courage

You declared your undying love for me

and your pride in me

But you never told me that our time would run out so quickly.
