Let Go

I am afraid to let go:

Afraid to let go of the railing

And truly enjoy the view,

Afraid to let go of old pictures

And simply reminisce the memories,

Afraid to let go of myself

And fall in love,

Afraid to let go of the hard times

And face what awaits with strength.

If I never let go how can I catch

What is thrown my way?

How can I sculpt my future

If my hands are too busy holding the past?

If I never let go

I won’t let it all go at once.

Each day, I let one more thing

Be stashed away

And I face the world with

Slightly less to carry.
