Let Me...
"But first..."
[ ( Could you please? )
Let me read a book in bed, let me stay up late.
Let me finish this next chapter, I don't think that I can wait.
Let me know what's sad and happy, let me understand.
Let me read some fantasy, let me take a stand.
Let me recline in my bed, let me take it slow.
Let me laugh so mirthfully, with my laptop set aglow.
Let me watch some anime, let me get some rest.
Let me get some sleep tonight, I can't study for this test.
Let me make my jokes at school, let me be crazy.
Let me pun when I feel like it, before my smile goes hazy.
Let me answer this next question, let me want to grin.
Let me be proud of myself, let me show what lies within.
Let me rest my fingers on these keys, let me make a noise.
Let me tell you honestly, and speak without these ploys.
Let me sing a song to you, let my voice resound.
Let my take away your worries, let me tell you what I've found.
Let me cry my tears tonight, let them all run dry.
Let me sing my fears to you, before I say goodbye.
Let me think my thoughts aloud, let me say them true.
Let me say what I think of me, let me change your view.
Let me feel like I have beauty, let me be pretty.
Let me choose how I should look, without any pity.
Let me wipe my makeup off, let my skin feel free.
Let me let my hair down now, let me help you see.
Let me be no more than me, let me be respected.
Let me have reality, so I'm not disconnected.
Let me succeed in my choices, let me be ensured.
Let me stay who I am right now, let me be assured.
Let me live my life simply, let me settle my unease.
Let me no longer be afraid, let me be at ease.
Let me scribble this small poem, let me have my song be heard.
Let me tell you who I am, let me impress upon you the importance of these words.
( Oh please, oh please, oh please! ) ]
