They told me

Ignorance was bliss

But living like this

Just isn't the way

A human should live

Endure

And burn

For the sins

For the mess I made

Conflicted and confused

You tell me

Who hasn't been abused

And lived through it

Tell me

How we make it through

When it rains

How do we smile

Through all this pain

Tell me

They said

The older I get

The wiser I'll become

But I feel like they lied

Wiser

I may be

But I still do damage

And it's more profound

When I sink without a sound

And cry out

Because I've never hurt so bad

I just needed it to stop

I don't listen

Not anymore

When they came to my door

I closed it

Right in their face

Left them to drown

In the disgrace

Of their shame

I let them

Chew and choke on it

Because they lied to me

Told me

I could manage

And I can't

So tell me

How we get by

When all it does it rain

When all I do is cry

This pain

Will surely undo me
