Let Me Be

Let me be there when life suffocates you

and you are found in distress by

sorrow and pain

Right when your emotions are out of control

from seeing your lost

as everyone gains

Let me be that shield

which protects your heart

from tough moments

that storm in like stones

Let me be the prairie

blooming of flowers and grass

in which you dance

when spring comes

Let me be that pillar standing upright

when you need something to lean on

Let me be the twilight that serves as a guide

when you are found in darkness

and cannot see the path

Let me be the hand that pats your shoulder

and the lips that whisper

"everything will be fine"

because though you now think

those few words are lies

It will soon get better as I am

by your side.
